Strategic Portfolio Management & Change Governance
25 years building the governance, portfolio, and change capabilities that allow financial institutions to execute, not just plan.
Built over 25 years in the field, not in theory. Across portfolio governance, programme leadership, change risk, and the emerging role of AI in strategic decision-making.
I build the governance structures that give leadership genuine visibility over their change portfolio. From PMO design and benefits realisation to investment prioritisation and change risk management.
Senior leadership for complex, high-stakes programmes. Separations, mergers, digital overhauls, and portfolio turnarounds. I have run programmes at this scale and complexity and understand the decisions that determine whether they succeed.
Building the frameworks that allow organisations to understand, manage, and report on change risk before it becomes a balance sheet problem. Including investment classification, platform governance, and impairment disciplines.
Practical thinking on where AI genuinely improves portfolio governance decisions, and where it adds noise rather than signal. An area I invest in continuously alongside my executive responsibilities.
25 years delivering results in the most demanding environments financial services offers.

Designed the Group-wide SI Priority Classification Framework and the Platform Management Framework. Led the FY2025 Intangible Asset Impairment exercise. Reports to Group Exco.

25 years at the coalface of financial services transformation. And an active student of what AI is beginning to change.
25 years in financial services, not as an observer, but as the person accountable for making things work. I have governed technology across 13 banks, led change portfolios across 11 African countries, and designed the governance architecture for the complete separation of two major banking institutions.
The hardest problems in transformation are not technical; they are organisational. The right governance, the right decision-making forums, the right frameworks for realising value: these are what separate programmes that deliver from those that do not.
Outside of work I am husband to Tamsin and father to Cruz and Zac. I play padel three or four times a week and find genuine parallels between high performance on the court and in the workplace. I serve on the board of Crossroads Remedial School and mentor through The Mentoring Club and The Mentorship Challenge.

Carlo was instrumental in laying the foundation for a very successful programme. He has remarkable skills in project management, organisational change management, portfolio and value management. He was a key contributor to our overall success in landing one of the most complex programmes of work in banking. A rare talent indeed.
Carlo worked for me managing the governance of a large technology and business change programme across 12 markets in Africa. Honest, open and engaging, with a detailed grasp of change methodologies and strong technical knowledge. He has repeatedly demonstrated reliability, integrity and professionalism. I recommend him highly.
Carlo is a highly capable project and programme manager who delivers to high time and quality standards. He has an entrepreneurial streak, constantly seeking not just efficiency gains but new opportunities to improve performance. I have worked with Carlo and rated his work very highly across a diverse portfolio of cross-regional projects.
I am open to conversations about senior executive roles in financial services. If my background is relevant to what you are building or looking for, I would be glad to connect.
